Role Description The Lead Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. This role oversees the end-to-end design process for residential renovation projects, from initial client consultations and concept development to final design delivery. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating design concepts, selecting materials and finishes, preparing detailed layouts and mood boards, and coordinating with contractors to ensure design intent is executed accurately. The Lead Designer will manage project timelines, collaborate with clients and internal teams, review site conditions, and provide design guidance throughout construction. This role also involves maintaining design standards, staying current with industry trends, and contributing to a positive, inclusive team culture.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in interior design, space planning, and residential renovation projects.
- Proficiency with design and visualization tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or similar software) and presentation tools.
- Strong project management skills, including scheduling, prioritization, and coordination with contractors and vendors.
- Excellent client-facing communication skills, with the ability to explain design concepts clearly and incorporate feedback.
- Solid understanding of materials, finishes, building codes, and construction processes relevant to residential interiors.
- Ability to lead and mentor design team members and collaborate effectively in a cross-functional environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
