The Disaster Recovery Specialist supports the review, coordination, and execution of enterprise disaster recovery (DR) plans to ensure the security and integrity of company data, systems, and technology. This role partners with technical teams, application owners, and business stakeholders to conduct disaster recovery exercises, validate recovery processes, and document results for senior management. The specialist maintains and updates DR runbooks, supports risk and impact analyses, and translates technical deficiencies into business‑relevant risk insights. Responsibilities also include assisting with disaster declarations, plan activations, regulatory reporting, and delivery of DR training and communications across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support enterprise disaster recovery exercises and validation activities.
- Maintain and update disaster recovery execution plans and runbooks.
- Document and report DR exercise outcomes to leadership and auditors.
- Conduct risk and impact analyses to identify critical systems and dependencies.
- Translate technical recovery gaps into business risk information.
- Support disaster declaration and plan activation activities.
- Develop and deliver DR training, procedures, and communications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of IT experience, with proven disaster recovery coordination in multi‑site environments.
- Strong knowledge of DR architectures, backup, replication, and recovery technologies across on‑premise, hosted, and cloud environments.
- Familiarity with ISO standards (ISO 27001, ISO 22301, ISO 19011, ISO 22316).
- Certifications such as DRCS, CBCP, PMP are preferred.
- Excellent project coordination, analytical, and communication skills.
