Role Overview
The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) will serve as the primary technical interface between customers, sales, and engineering teams for high-speed optical interconnect solutions including 400G, 800G, and 1.6T optical transceivers, AEC/DAC/ACC products, and AI infrastructure connectivity solutions.
The ideal candidate combines strong customer-facing communication skills with deep technical expertise in optical networking, high-speed Ethernet, and AI/Hyperscale data center architectures.
This is a remote position with flexibility to support customers across North America, including travel for customer engagements, onsite support, and industry events as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers during evaluation, qualification, deployment, and post-sales support activities.
- Support customer bring-up, interoperability testing, and system-level validation activities.
- Troubleshoot hardware, firmware, signal integrity, and link performance issues in customer environments.
- Coordinate escalation activities between customers and internal engineering, operations, quality and supply chain teams to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Provide technical expertise on:
- 400G / 800G / 1.6T optical transceivers
- AEC, DAC, and ACC cable solutions
- Linear and DSP-based optics
- Ethernet and InfiniBand interconnects
- AI cluster and hyperscale network architectures
- Assist customers in selecting optimal interconnect solutions based on reach, power, latency, and deployment requirements.
- Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and solution workshops with customers and strategic partners.
- Build strong relationships with OEMs, ODMs, switch vendors, and AI infrastructure providers including NeoClouds, HPC and Enterprise.
- Provide onsite deployment and lab support during customer qualification and production rollout phases.
- Provide customer feedback to internal teams regarding product performance, feature requests, and market trends.
- Support interoperability validation with:
- NVIDIA QM/CX/Spectrum platforms
- Ethernet switches and AI fabrics
- Hyperscale and enterprise server platforms
- Assist in maintaining lab equipment and validation environments for customer testing and qualification.
- Support strategic customer opportunities alongside the sales organization.
- Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, trade shows, and industry events.
- Assist in developing technical collateral, application notes, and deployment guides.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Photonics.
- 5 years of experience in optical transceivers, data center networking, or high-speed interconnect technologies.
- Strong understanding of:
- Ethernet and InfiniBand protocols
- PAM4 signaling and DSP architectures
- Optical link budgets and fiber infrastructure
- AI and hyperscale data center architectures
- Hands-on experience with:
- 400G/800G optics
- NVIDIA networking ecosystem
- Lab instrumentation and validation tools
- Customer troubleshooting and escalation management
- Excellent communication, presentation, and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to travel as required to support customer engagements and deployments.
- Experience supporting NeoCloud, Enterprise, or AI infrastructure customers.
- Familiarity with Marvell, Broadcom, Credo, or similar DSP platforms.
- Silicon photonics and co-packaged optics technologies.
- Knowledge of AI cluster networking topologies and GPU infrastructure deployments.
