WORKING HOURS: 8 AM – 5 PM Monday-Friday
Job Summary/Objective of Job
This role involves the rebuilding and repair of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, with a primary focus on replacing mechanical drivetrain components such as transmissions, differentials, clutches, and driveshafts. Additionally, the position occasionally requires handling other repairs and services, including the replacement of electrical drivetrain components.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
- Efficiently, safely, and accurately remove and reinstall heavy-duty drivetrain components.
- Repair malfunctioning parts, including but not limited to brakes, brake lines, hydraulic lines, steering components, electrical components, pumps, and valve bodies, ensuring they operate effectively.
- Perform routine DOT maintenance on trucks as needed.
- Conduct road tests on customer vehicles to assist in problem isolation or verify repair procedures.
- Cross-train on alternate assignments and perform duties in other work areas as required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2-5 years of experience as a heavy-duty mechanic.
- State Certification or the ability to obtain it.
- Strong diagnostic skills for troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must provide own hand tools up to ¾ drive.
- Good communication skills.
Physical Demands
- Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifting and carrying heavy parts and equipment, often 65 lbs. or more.
- Standing and Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking while performing repairs and maintenance
- Kneeling and Crouching: Regularly kneeling, crouching, and working in awkward positions to access various vehicle components.
- Manual Dexterity: High level of manual dexterity to handle tools and small parts.
- Strength and Stamina: Physical strength and stamina to handle the demands of the job, including pushing, pulling, and manipulating heavy components.
- Reaching and Climbing: Frequent reaching and climbing to access different parts of the vehicles.
