The mission of Atonement Afterschool is to provide educational assistance, life skills and emotional support to children in order that our students might have success not only today but for tomorrow.
Job Purpose:
The Afterschool Aide works alongside the Director and other staff to ensure a safe and fun environment for each and every child who attends the Atonement Afterschool program. Aides are responsible for carrying out the daily programmatic, relational, and academic elements of the program.
Duties
- Works productively and consistently with After School Program Supervisor, parent, and youth.
- Assists in coordination and the distribution of afternoon snacks.
- Maintains order and procedures during all activities; e.g. homework, classroom, gym, playground, field trips, etc.
- Attends designated orientations and in-services.
- Monitor and report behavior of students according to approved procedures
- Assist in overseeing students while involved in activities.
- Assist students by providing proper examples, emotional support, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
- Provide support to Coordinator by setting up activities, work areas,
- Confer, as needed, with Coordinator concerning programs and materials to meet student needs.
- Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and regulations.
- Direct group activities of students as assigned; assist in monitoring playground activities as assigned; assist in emergency drills, assemblies, play periods and field trips.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain regular attendance.
Qualifications
Experience working with children, at least a year
- Able to maintain an energetic energy while working with the students
- Able to transport students from school to facility by foot
- Ability to multi-task, move at a quick pace and work on a team
Ability to communicate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff, and the public including members of ethnic communities.
- At least 18 years of age
License and Other Requirements:
- PA Child Abuse Clearance
- PA Criminal Background Check
- FBI Finger Print
- Mandated Reporting Training
- NSOR Clearance
- CPR Certification
- Other required trainings (not needed at time of hire, but will be required before working).
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.32 - $16.20 per hour
