Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Night Cook to join our kitchen team. The Night Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items during evening and late-night shifts, ensuring high-quality food, proper presentation, and adherence to food safety standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, efficient, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portion sizes, and customer specifications.
- Ensure all food meets quality, safety, and presentation standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, equipment, and workstations throughout the shift.
- Assist with inventory control by properly storing food, rotating stock, and reporting low supplies.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff and communicate effectively with front-of-house team members.
- Assist with closing duties, including cleaning, equipment shutdown, and preparing the kitchen for the next day.
Qualifications:
- Previous cooking experience preferred; experience in a high-volume kitchen is a plus.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen best practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Experience:
- Previous cooking experience in a professional kitchen; experience in a high-volume or fast-paced environment is highly preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and safe food handling practices.
- Experience following standardized recipes while maintaining consistency in taste, portion, and presentation.
- Familiarity with kitchen sanitation standards, food storage procedures, and inventory rotation.
- Background working evening, late-night, or flexible shifts is beneficial.
- Experience collaborating with kitchen staff and communicating effectively with front-of-house team members.
- Prior involvement in closing or opening kitchen duties, including cleaning, equipment care, and prep for the next shift, is a plus.
