What are the responsibilities and job description for the Soft Goods Technician position at Atomic Design?
Position Objective
Create soft goods based on a plan, drawing or request, and ensure ATOMIC standards and appropriate deadlines are met.
Core Responsibilities
- Work with team to build soft goods products according to technical drawings.
- Ensure that all soft goods are labeled according to the drawing.
- Ensure that all soft goods produced are tested and properly treated to meet flame retardant standards.
- Be aware of shipping and packaging needs of all soft goods in order to pack appropriately.
- Maintain the ATOMIC inventory of fabrics and supplies.
- Maintain a clean and organized soft goods shop.
- Produce fabric samples; provide samples and certs to the ATOMIC Project Manager and include in shipments.
- Contribute to the development of a safety culture.
Reporting and Organizational Relationships
- The Soft Goods Technician reports to the Soft Goods Lead and works closely with Project Managers.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Solid knowledge of theatre terms.
- Solid knowledge of various industrial sewing machines (i.e. 4 thread serger, heavy duty walking foot).
- Ability to follow patterns to construct to size using traditional and non-traditional sewing techniques, measuring accurately.
- Skilled theatrical sewing.
- Ability to read technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong interest in learning and growth.
Credentials & Experience
- 5 years of seamstress experience, in a theater/entertainment-related field or professional alterations.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work on hands and knees on the floor.
- Those necessary for general warehouse work in typical manufacturing environment as well as offsite work at various venues.
Salary : $18 - $21
