As a growing operation with strong reputation in the industry, we are seeking a results driven Fleet Manager to lead daily fleet operations, optimize performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive cost efficiency.
Job Summary:
Oversees all aspects of fleet operation including vehicle maintenance, secondary equipment, driver support, regulatory compliance, and cost management. Directly supervises onsite mechanics and a fleet assistant. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and time management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Operations & Maintenance
o Oversee daily movements and operation of trucks, trailers, and secondary equipment
o Develop and manage maintenance programs
o Coordinate repairs, service schedules, and procurements
Driver Management
o Partner with HR/Safety teams to support driver onboarding, training, coaching
o Assist in ensuring that drivers comply with company policies and DOT regulation
o Address driver concerns related to equipment and performance
Safety & Compliance
o Ensure full compliance with DOT, FMCSA and other regulatory entities
o Maintain accurate records for inspections, maintenance, and driver logs
o Assist in developing and implementing safety programs and initiatives
Expense Management
o Partner with stake holders to manage fleet- related expenses such as maintenance, repairs, leasing, etc
o Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or service quality
o Coordinate accurate invoicing with accounting team and ensure timely payment to vendors.
o Track and analyze performance metrics (Idling costs, driver efficiency, Fuel purchases, etc) to assist in budgeting
Vendor & Asset Management
o Negotiate and manage relationship with vendors
o Maintain invoicing
o Oversee asset lifecycle management including procurement, replacement, and disposal
o Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and safety
Qualifications:
· Experience in asset-based trucking company
· Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations
· Proficiency in fleet management software, specifically Samsara is a plus
· Strong organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
· Experience managing maintenance programs
· CDL not required, but preferred
· 3 years of Fleet Management experience or equivalent
Essential Physical Functions:
· Must be able to lift and/or move 50 lbs (ie. tools, parts, equipment)
· Ability to climb in and out of trucks, trailer, etc.
· Comfortable working in varying weather conditions
· Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach
· Visual and hearing acuity
· Manual dexterity to operate computers, tablets, tools, and equipment
Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
