Our client, a growing alternative asset management firm, is seeking a Management Company Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting and finance operations of the management company and affiliated entities. This role will work closely with the Controller and finance leadership team on accounting, reporting, expense management, and operational finance initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail, and experience within financial services, private equity, hedge funds, venture capital, or other alternative investment environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for monthly close processes
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the management company and related entities
- Process accounts payable, expense allocations, wire activity, and employee reimbursements
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking initiatives
- Maintain general ledger activity and ensure accuracy of financial data
- Assist with management fee revenue tracking, intercompany accounting, and operating expense allocations
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax preparers, and service providers during year-end reporting processes
- Support payroll accounting and benefits-related reconciliations
- Help maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and operational procedures
- Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives across the finance function
- Assist with ad hoc reporting requests and operational projects for senior management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA or CPA-track preferred
- 5-10 years of accounting experience, preferably within public accounting or financial services environments
- Experience with private equity, hedge fund, venture capital, family office, or alternative asset management accounting preferred
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close procedures
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Background
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Exposure to partnership accounting or management company structures is a plus
- Experience working with multiple entities and intercompany transactions preferred
- Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset

Salary : $175,000 - $250,000
