About the Opportunity
A health system in Grand Forks, ND is seeking a Board Certified Gastroenterologist for outpatient locum coverage beginning in January 2027. Coverage weeks are available throughout the year, so you can choose assignments that fit your calendar. Hours run Monday through Friday with a half-hour lunch, and time at the end of the day is built in for charting. There is no call.
You’ll work in an outpatient endoscopy center, typically alongside other physicians, with a dedicated team of a CRNA, an RN in every room, and a tech. Expect about 14-16 procedures per day, mostly colonoscopies and EGDs. There are no midlevel providers in this setting.
Responsibilities
- Perform outpatient endoscopic procedures, primarily colonoscopy and EGD
- Carry out therapeutic procedures such as biopsies, polyp removal, foreign body retrieval, bleeding control, and variceal injection
- Perform sigmoidoscopy, esophageal dilation and manometry, and small bowel biopsy as needed
- Work with the anesthesia and procedure team to keep room turnover efficient and patient care safe
- Document procedures and findings accurately and complete charting by end of day
- Follow facility protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- Board Certified in Gastroenterology required
- Active North Dakota medical license required (IMLC accepted)
- Experience performing a high volume of outpatient endoscopic procedures
Schedule Details
- Monday-Friday, onsite
- Start times as early as 7:30 AM, with the day ending as late as 4:30 PM
- 30-minute lunch break
- No call
- Multiple coverage weeks available from January through December 2027
