Atlas Public Policy seeks a Data Analyst to support research and products on topics important to Atlas’s mission, including clean manufacturing, electric transportation, building decarbonization, water policy, and other areas of climate policy.
A qualified person must be sharp, ambitious, passionate, organized, and capable of adapting to the evolving demands at Atlas. This position can be based in Washington, DC or fully remote with standard east coast hours. Staff in DC follow a hybrid work model of three days per week in the office.

The Work
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines that power Atlas products, dashboards, and research.
- Architect and manage relational databases and backend systems to support reliable, scalable, frequently updated data products.
- Build computational models, like our Charge at Home tool, and APIs that translate complex policy and market questions into practical analytical tools.
- Design and deliver intuitive, high-impact dashboards using Microsoft Power BI for Atlas products like EV Hub and Buildings Hub for policymakers, advocates, and industry audiences.
- Provide technical leadership on product development, including reviewing code, improving engineering practices, and guiding implementation decisions.
- Work directly with clients and partners to define requirements, shape product direction, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Help evaluate and integrate emerging technologies, including AI tools within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, into Atlas products and workflows.
- Strengthen the resilience of Atlas’s technical infrastructure through debugging, monitoring, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Desired Qualifications
- At least four years of work experience as a data analyst, data engineer, or data scientist.
- At least two years of experience with backend development in Python, including developing REST APIs.
- At least two years of experience writing SQL queries and procedures for frequently updated data at scale.
- At least two years of experience in client engagement.
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar data visualization/dashboarding software (e.g., Tableau, Looker, or Qlik).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or similar.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Strong interest in developing data-driven visualizations and tools.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
- Ambitious, self-directed, but knows when to pause and seek assistance.
- U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.

Compensation:
- Annual salary of $100,000-$135,000
- Additional expected 10% of salary contributed to a pre-tax retirement account
- Annual profit-sharing bonus between estimated 5% and 25%, based on employee and company performance
