Yard Manager

We are seeking to fill a permanent position for Yard Manager for one of our renewable energy clients in Providence, RI

Job objective

The Yard Manager USA is responsible for the efficient and effective running of the storage yard and warehouse in the USA, including supervision of other unit employees, responsible for scheduling the equipment and machinery pool based in the US yard to support our projects, overview of all assets stored in the warehouse system, contact with local subcontractors, responsible for unit budget

General responsibilities and tasks

• Conduct all activities and tasks required for an efficient and effective storage yard, representative to our clients at all time
• Ensure all Client’s and client(s) assets are correctly recorded in the company warehouse management system
• First point of contact for our clients with regards to assets stored at our US yard and warehouse
• Responsible for the US equipment pool planning. Register the issuance and retrieval of equipment from the yard to projects as per requirements from the Operations department
• Establish contact with local subcontractors to procure their services. Such as logistic services, genset rental, heavy machinery rentals, housekeeping services etc.
• Responsible for staying within unit budget. Identify opportunities for efficiency to the operations at the US yard and as a result save on costs
• Understand and support the implementation of Client’s corporate policies and work instructions with regards to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality
• Promote a safe and healthy working environment for all unit personnel and contractors/freelancers working within the US yard premises
• Motivate, support and delegate other personnel of the Unit US Yard and maintain a good working atmosphere within the unit. Able to communicate on different levels
• Conduct annual formal appraisal interviews and regular informal appraisal, give and ask regular feedback and make sure the set objectives are implemented
• Prepare the yearly unit budget together with the Global Yard & Equipment Manager
• Identify areas of exposure or improvements within the unit
• Co-ordinate logistic services for our clients; transports from and to the yards, contact with clients.

Job Requirements

• Must Authorize to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Must leave within commutable distance to Providence, RI.
• Owned a truck to support with shipping/receiving of goods (Ideally)
• Forklift TWIC cert (Ideally) if not must willing to cover cost personally
• Experience working at port/dock/harbor or any maritime settings/Environment
