We're currently seeking a passionate and experienced Food Service Director to oversee our nutrition program across all our locations throughout the Portland Metro Area. This is a hands-on role that combines cooking and kitchen management to provide nutritious meals for our students.

Your Role as a Food Service Director:
- Actively prepare and cook meals while managing the overall food program across all campuses
- Lead by example through hands-on cooking and meal preparation, showing culinary expertise
- Develop and implement an efficient system for food ordering, inventory management, and meal preparation across all campuses
- Create recipes and menus that are nutritious, appealing, and accommodate various dietary restrictions
- Personally prepare meals for special events, professional development days, and as needed
- Cook and train kitchen staff on proper food preparation techniques and quality standards
- Maintain compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations and the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care regulations, and other governing bodies
- Manage the food program budget, track expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Establish relationships with food vendors and negotiate contracts for quality ingredients
- Conduct regular quality assessments and implement improvements to the food program
- Ensure proper documentation for regulatory compliance and reporting requirements
What We Look For:
- 3 years of experience in food service, with strong hands-on cooking skills and knowledge
- Experience cooking for large groups and managing kitchen operations
- Knowledge of nutritional requirements for early childhood education
- Demonstrated ability to both cook and manage a food service program
- Experience with budget management and inventory control systems
- Strong leadership skills with a willingness to both direct and participate in meal preparation
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Food Handler's certification and knowledge of food safety regulations
- Background in culinary arts or nutrition preferred
- Legal right to work in the U.S.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, or related field preferred
- Current Food Handler's Card and registration in the Central Background Check Registry
- Experience with menu planning and accommodating dietary restrictions
- Experience with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
- Proficiency with food service software and basic computer skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff across multiple locations
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Capable of lifting and moving up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in various temperature environments (kitchen heat, refrigerator/freezer)
