Atlas Immersion Academy
Portland, OR Full Time
POSTED ON 10/11/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 12/11/2026

At Atlas Immersion Academy, we celebrate the beauty of multilingual, multinational families and staff through meaningful sharing, rituals, and traditions woven throughout the year. We expose children to new languages through play, structured environments, and a curriculum built on best practices in early childhood education — and we’re looking for a Center Director who shares that passion and can help us bring it to life every day.

What Makes This Opportunity Special?

Full-time, exempt position with competitive compensation based on experience, degree, and assigned responsibilities. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, life insurance, retirement funds, free tuition for your children, and professional development opportunities. You’ll lead our Atlas Curriculum across all age groups (0–12 years) within a vibrant, internationally minded Preschool for All school and community where Spanish and French immersion are at the heart of everything we do.

Your Impact

You’ll partner with leadership to orchestrate daily operations — from managing staff and budgets to overseeing facilities—while championing the cultural and linguistic richness that sets Atlas apart. Your leadership spans enrollment, staff development, compliance, and community building, with your critical thinking and communication skills on full display.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Communication Excellence: Outstanding verbal and written abilities to articulate the Atlas mission to families, collaborate on sensitive conversations, and present data clearly to leadership and regulatory agencies.
  • Excel & Technology Mastery: Developed spreadsheet skills for budget tracking and enrollment analysis; proficient with Google Suite, MS Office, database management, and scheduling software (preferred but not mandatory: Playground Management Software).
  • Self-Starter & Team Player: Takes ownership independently while working collaboratively, proactively identifies improvements, manages competing priorities with sound judgment, and follows through consistently.
  • Critical Thinking: Analyzes complex situations, balances enrollment targets with budget constraints and quality standards, and anticipates issues strategically.
  • Reliable Transportation: Valid driver’s license and vehicle required for travel between locations and community events (up to 10% travel, primarily day trips).
  • Practical Skills: Comfortable with basic facility maintenance tasks and a proactive approach to addressing operational needs.
  • Love for languages: Speaks Spanish fluently. Knowledge of the French language a plus.

What You’ll Bring

All candidates must meet Oregon Office of Child Care (OCC) certified center Director qualifications, including:

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Verifiable knowledge of adult management and supervision, AND child development for the primary ages served — demonstrated through education, training, or experience as defined by OCC (or Step 9 in the Oregon Registry).
  • Enrollment in Oregon’s Central Background Registry (CBR) prior to hire.
  • Completion of all OCC-required initial and ongoing training, verified through Oregon Registry Online (ORO).

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 2 years of ECE experience, including staff supervision and budget management (Associate’s degree with equivalent ECE experience considered). Experience in a multilingual or immersion setting is a strong plus. Ability to speak Spanish. Ability to speak French a plus.

Your Day-to-Day Leadership

Partner with leadership on scheduling, staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation. Support enrollment objectives, manage budgets with accurate reporting, and conduct compelling school tours. Maintain full OCC regulatory compliance, ensure proper staff-to-child ratios, and conduct safety inspections. Implement enrichment programming, partner with families to meet student needs, and celebrate our community’s diversity through school events and cultural traditions. Lead hiring, training, coaching, and retaining qualified staff while fostering a workplace culture aligned with the Atlas mission and values.
