Construction Project Manager / Field Supervisor (Commercial & Residential)
Atlas General Contractors (Atlas GC) | Northern Virginia | Full-time, in person
Pay: $55,000 – $60,000 per year

About the role
Atlas GC is growing, and we need a hands-on project manager who can run both commercial and residential jobs from signed proposal to closeout. Our work ranges from commercial build-outs and renovations to residential remodels, additions, and outdoor living projects like pools, screened porches, and patios. You’ll own the schedule, the budget, the subs, and the client relationship on every project you run. You’ll be in the field most days and accountable for the results: quality work, delivered on time, at the margin we bid.

What you’ll do

Project delivery

  • Run commercial and residential projects from kickoff through punch list and closeout
  • Build and manage project schedules; sequence subcontractors and keep work moving
  • Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specs; flag conflicts and gaps early
  • Pull and manage permits, coordinate inspections, and handle HOA approvals on residential jobs
  • Visit active jobs regularly to check progress, quality, and site safety, and resolve problems on the spot
  • Keep residential sites clean, safe, and respectful of homeowners living on or near the property

Budget and margin

  • Track job costs against the estimate and protect margin
  • Identify scope changes, then price, document, and get change orders signed before the work is done
  • Submit purchase order requests and manage material ordering and deliveries
  • Support estimating with field input, takeoffs, and pricing on new bids

Client communication

  • Serve as the client’s main point of contact; give clear progress updates daily or as the job requires
  • Commercial: work directly with property managers, owners, architects, and consultants
  • Residential: guide homeowners through the process, explain decisions in plain terms, and keep them informed so they feel confident in the work
  • Manage expectations so there are no surprises on schedule, cost, or scope

Subcontractors and vendors

  • Build a reliable bench of subs and suppliers for both commercial and residential work, and hold them to price, schedule, and quality
  • Negotiate fair pricing and keep scopes clearly defined

Systems and standards

  • Keep project information current in our CRM and project tracking tools
  • Follow and enforce company policies, safety practices, and quality standards on every site

How we’ll measure success

  • Projects completed on schedule and within budget
  • Gross margin on completed jobs at or above estimate
  • Change orders documented and approved before work proceeds
  • Client satisfaction, repeat business, reviews, and referrals
  • Clean closeouts: punch list done, documents delivered, final invoice out on time

What you bring

Required

  • 3–5 years of verifiable field experience managing construction projects, with commercial and/or residential experience
  • Strong estimating background and solid working knowledge of construction methods and trades
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication with both business clients and homeowners
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and hit deadlines

Preferred

  • Experience across both commercial and residential projects
  • Residential remodeling, additions, or outdoor living experience (pools, decks, porches, hardscape)
  • Experience working with commercial property managers, architects, and consultants
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Familiarity with permitting in Fairfax, Loudoun, or surrounding Northern Virginia jurisdictions
  • Experience with construction management or CRM software
  • Spanish language skills

Who does well here
Someone who takes ownership, solves problems without waiting to be told, and treats the company’s money like their own. You can shift between a property manager’s walkthrough and a homeowner’s kitchen table in the same day. You stay organized when several jobs are moving at once, you’re comfortable having direct conversations with subs and clients, and you care about doing it right the first time.
