Position Summary
The (General Manager in Training) is a fully qualified, leadership-ready operator who is not yet assigned to a permanent store. This individual provides interim support to locations in need of leadership, covers gaps caused by General Manager absences or transitions, and may assist with the opening of new locations. The BPG is actively prepared to take on a store as soon as an opportunity arises, while embodying the leadership behaviors, operational excellence, and cultural values of Jimmy John’s.
A BPG is a manager in waiting and will be assigned to the first GM opening and will be assigned by the DM to an open GM position.
Key Responsibilities
Store Leadership & Support
Provide full operational leadership at assigned stores in the absence of a General Manager.
Support new store openings, remodels, and transitional stores with on-site leadership.
Step into under-performing stores to stabilize operations and coach existing teams.
Lead daily operations, including food safety, speed of service, labor management, and customer satisfaction.
Team Development
Train, coach, and mentor team members and shift leaders.
Support new General Managers during on-boarding and ramp-up.
Reinforce brand standards, operational procedures, and company culture.
Operational Excellence
Maintain compliance with all brand, food safety, labor, and financial policies.
Monitor KPIs such as labor %, food cost, and speed of service; take corrective action where needed.
Execute company initiatives and implement improvements at the store level.
Readiness & Availability
Remain flexible and mobile to support any store within the assigned region/district.
Serve as an ambassador of company values and leadership standards.
Maintain readiness to accept a permanent GM placement as soon as one becomes available.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience as a General Manager in QSR or fast-casual dining.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive results independently.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under pressure.
High degree of flexibility and willingness to travel between store locations.
ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain).
Excellent communication, training, and team-building skills.
Preferred Traits

Proven success turning around under-performing stores or leading high-volume locations.
Passion for operations, guest experience, and team development.
Working Conditions
Frequently travels within a district/region.
Must be available to cover nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs dictate.
Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and ability to be on feet for extended periods.
