What are the responsibilities and job description for the Superintendent – Commercial Construction position at Atlas Four Construction?
Built on Strength. Driven by Purpose.
About Atlas Four Construction
Atlas Four Construction is a commercial general contractor based in North DFW, building ground-up and renovation projects for owners and developers across Texas and Oklahoma. Our name is a promise: like Atlas, we take the weight of an owner's project onto our shoulders and carry it all the way to completion.
We build differently. We don't hand clients a portal and call it communication. We adapt to how each owner, architect, and trade partner prefers to work, and we run strong systems behind the scenes so things stay simple for them. Standards are nonnegotiable. Process is negotiable.
The Role
We're hiring a Superintendent to lead field operations on commercial projects from mobilization through closeout. You'll own safety, quality, schedule, and site coordination.
The most important part of this role is communication. At Atlas Four, the superintendent is the main voice of the job site. Owners, architects, trade partners, and our office rely on you to know what's happening, what's coming, and what needs to be decided. We can teach our systems, but we can't teach someone to care about keeping people informed.
This is a ground-floor role at a growing company. You'll have direct access to leadership and real influence on how we build our field operations.
Communication Expectations
- Return calls and messages the same day, every day
- Share problems early and directly, and bring a plan to solve them
- Adapt to each client's preferred way of getting updates: phone call, text, email, weekly PDF, or site walk
- Produce clear daily reports, progress photos, and schedule updates that anyone can understand without being on site
- Lead weekly trade partner coordination meetings and owner/architect/contractor (OAC) meetings
- Keep project managers, estimators, and leadership aligned on field conditions, risks, and cost impacts
- Treat trade partners, inspectors, and owner's reps as part of one team
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily field operations on commercial projects
- Build, maintain, and drive the project schedule with the project manager, including 3-week look-aheads
- Coordinate and sequence all trade partners, deliveries, and inspections
- Enforce the site safety program: toolbox talks, inspections, and full OSHA compliance
- Run quality control, including pre-installation meetings, work reviews, and punch lists
- Review drawings and specs, find conflicts early, and write clear RFIs
- Coordinate municipal inspections, utility work, and fire marshal requirements
- Track and document field changes, and support accurate change order pricing
- Supervise site logistics, including layout, access, storage, and cleanliness
- Manage closeout: punch list completion, Certificate of Occupancy, as-builts, and turnover to the owner
- Represent Atlas Four professionally with owners, architects, and the community
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of commercial construction field experience, including at least 2 years as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
- Ground-up commercial experience (retail, healthcare, industrial, office, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, sequencing, and building codes
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- OSHA 30 certification (or ability to get it within 90 days)
- Comfort with project management software, scheduling tools, email, and mobile field reporting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work on active job sites in Texas weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the DFW market with local trade partner and municipal relationships
- Interior and ground-up experience
- First Aid/CPR certification
Our Values
We hire for these values as much as for experience:

- Above & Beyond: The minimum is never the standard
- One Team: Everyone who touches the project
- Evolve the Build: Always improving
- Never Walk Past: See it, say it, fix it
- The Atlas Standard: Our name is on everything
