Shop Lead

Atlas Fastener
Sauk, WI Full Time
POSTED ON 7/24/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/19/2027

We are seeking an organized, safety-focused, and proactive Shop Lead to oversee daily shop operations at our fastener distribution facility. In this hands-on leadership role, you will be responsible for prioritizing workflow, operating metal fabrication machinery, and ensuring orders are processed efficiently and accurately.

Because we specialize in fastener distribution, this role focuses heavily on material preparation, machinery operation, and task coordination rather than structural welding. The ideal candidate possesses basic welding knowledge for light assembly (such as tack welding anchor bolts), strong mechanical aptitude, and excellent time management skills to keep shop production moving smoothly.

Responsibilities

Workflow & Time Management: Prioritize, schedule, and assign daily shop tasks to maintain an efficient flow of workload and meet fulfillment deadlines.

Machinery & Equipment Operation: Safely operate shop machinery to cut threaded rod, drill components, and process fasteners to customer specifications.

Tack Welding & Assembly: Perform light tack welding—primarily on anchor bolt assemblies—and basic shop fabrication as required.

Quality & Accuracy Control: Inspect finished work, verify measurements, and ensure all custom shop orders meet accurate tolerances and customer specifications.

Shop Maintenance & Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment; report machinery maintenance needs and enforce shop safety protocols.

Inventory & Material Handling: Coordinate with warehouse leadership to track incoming raw materials (rod, stock, fasteners) and staging for job orders.

Qualifications

Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Forklift Skills: Forklift operating experience is preferred.

Experience: 2 years of experience in a warehouse, shop, or manufacturing environment; prior experience in a lead or supervisory role is preferred.

Welding Skills: Basic welding capability, specifically experience with tack welding (e.g., anchor bolt assemblies). High-level structural welding certification is not required.

Machinery & Tool Operation: Demonstrated proficiency with shop machinery, including metal-cutting saws (for cutting rod), drill presses, and basic power tools.

Time Management & Leadership: Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage work flow independently, and keep shop projects on schedule.

Mechanical Aptitude: Comfortable reading shop orders, taking precise measurements, and verifying specs/tolerances for fastener fabrications.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform routine manual shop tasks safely.
