What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural Equipment Operator position at Atlas Farm LLC?
Equipment Operators work closely with the Field Production Manager, field crews, and other farm management staff to take crops from seed to harvest. The primary job responsibilities include operating tractors, farm trucks, and other farm equipment in field preparation, planting, cultivation, pest management, irrigation, and harvest. Specific tasks include spreading fertilizer, plowing, harrowing, transplanting vegetable crops, operating tractor mounted cultivators, spraying, setting up pumps, sprinklers, and irrigation travelers, and operating mechanical harvesting machines such as potato harvesters. This position requires at least three months of experience operating tractors and farm equipment in these tasks and familiarity with vegetable production practices. Experience with general farm mechanics and handyman skills are also desired as well as excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Other duties may include growing vegetable crops including planting, weeding, harvesting, and packing. May use hands, rakes, hoes, shovels or other tools. Greenhouse duties will include mixing soil, planting seeds, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, and cleaning up."
