What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Bilingual Medical Billing Specialist – Chiropractic & Physical Therapy position at Atlas Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center?
Bilingual Medical Billing Specialist – Chiropractic & Physical Therapy
Atlas Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center is looking for an experienced, bilingual (English/Spanish) Medical Billing Specialist to manage the full billing cycle for our chiropractic and physical therapy practice. We need someone who has done this work before, knows the ins and outs of chiropractic/PT billing specifically, and has a proven track record of collecting on outstanding balances and keeping accounts receivable current. This is not an entry-level role — we're looking for a true billing expert who can hit the ground running.
What You'll Do
Manage end-to-end billing for chiropractic and physical therapy services, including charge entry, claim submission, and payment posting
Submit and follow up on insurance claims (personal injury/PIP claims/major medical), correcting and resubmitting denied or rejected claims promptly
Proactively pursue outstanding balances and aged accounts receivable, with a demonstrated history of reducing AR days and recovering overdue payments
Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to visits
Communicate directly with patients — in both English and Spanish — regarding balances, payment plans, and billing questions in a clear, professional, and empathetic manner
Liaise with insurance carriers, adjusters, and attorneys to resolve claim disputes and outstanding balances
Process and reconcile payments, adjustments, and write-offs accurately
Generate and review aging reports, flagging accounts that need escalation or collections follow-up
Maintain accurate, compliant patient billing records in our Eclipse practice management system
Stay current on chiropractic/PT billing codes (CPT, ICD-10), modifiers, and payer-specific rules
What We're Looking For
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, required
Minimum 3 years of hands-on medical billing experience specifically in a chiropractic and/or physical therapy office (required — please describe your specialty billing background in your application)
Proven, verifiable track record of successfully collecting on outstanding and aged patient/insurance balances
Strong working knowledge of chiropractic and PT CPT/ICD-10 codes, modifiers, and common payer denial reasons
Experience with Eclipse practice management/billing software strongly preferred
Experience with NJ no fault and NY personal injury/PIP processes and fee schedules
Excellent communication skills and comfort discussing balances and payment plans directly with patients
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience with developing and compiling arbitration files
Solid understanding of HIPAA and patient billing confidentiality requirements
Pay & Schedule
Pay: $22.00–$26.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Part-time, approximately 20–30 hours per week
Location: In-office position at our Atlas Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center location
