Your day to day as a Oversight Physician – Mobile Primary Care

Atlas Alaska is seeking an experienced Oversight Physician – Mobile Primary Care (MD or DO) to join our team as an independent contractor, offering a flexible schedule tailored to your lifestyle. In this pivotal role, you will provide clinical oversight for Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) serving patients in assisted living facilities and group homes. Your expertise in internal or family medicine, particularly in caring for geriatric and medically complex populations, will enhance patient care outcomes. You will conduct periodic oversight visits to review patient care plans and provide evidence-based clinical recommendations, all while working solely in an advisory capacity without direct patient management responsibilities. This position allows you to leverage your knowledge while mentoring advanced practice providers, making a meaningful impact in the lives of older adults in the Anchorage and Wasilla areas.

To excel as an Oversight Physician – Mobile Primary Care with Atlas Alaska, candidates must possess an MD or DO from an accredited medical school and hold an active, unrestricted medical license in the relevant state(s). Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine is essential, alongside substantial clinical experience in a primary care setting. Successful applicants will demonstrate comfort in reviewing and advising on care plans devised by Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs), showcasing strong documentation skills and familiarity with Medicare standards.

Preferred qualifications include experience in geriatric care, particularly within assisted living or group home environments, and knowledge of best practices in medication management and functional assessments. A background in mobile, home-based, or facility-based care models will further enhance your ability to collaborate effectively and support high-quality care delivery to our vulnerable populations. Your commitment to continuous learning and patient advocacy will be key drivers of success in this role.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Active unrestricted medical license in the applicable state(s)
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Clinical experience in a primary care setting
  • Comfort reviewing and advising on care plans developed by NPs and PAs
  • Strong documentation skills and familiarity with Medicare standards

Prefered Experience:

  • Experience caring for geriatric patients or residents of assisted living/group home settings
  • Knowledge of geriatric best practices including medication management and functional assessment
  • Prior experience in mobile home-based or facility-based care models
