OSP Field Engineer
Description:
The OSP Field Engineer position works primarily in the field with some subsequent time in office focused administrative tasks required by project leadership. Main responsibilities include recording relevant data by identifying, measuring, and logging existing field conditions for fiber optic facilities and other underground or aerial utilities. When not in the field, the OSP Field Engineer will assist with design and Quality Control if needed.
Location : Muscle Shoals/Florence, AL - 1 OSP fielder Required
Illinois (West side of Chicago metro area) - 1 OSP Fielder required.
Responsibilities:
- Collect information regarding utility pole identification, inspection, and measure existing attachments.
- Collect photos for pole load analysis using CVT flash stick.
- Locate and identify existing underground structures in the field.
- Interpret documentation and properly describe telecom structures, public right-of-way, utility/private easements, existing utilities (water, sewer, gas, etc.), and other aerial and underground utilities.
- Provide photos of relevant structures and field conditions to assist the Engineering team.
- Open hand holes to inspect facilities and existing fiber or conduit.
- Document and upload information regarding findings in the field using provided methods and following final deliverable package according to the scope of work. (QGIS, IQGEO, KMZ, etc.)
Skills & Qualifications:
- 0-2 years of related work experience in fiber optic engineering or construction. Training will be provided.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to interpret utility and telecommunications data with a high degree of accuracy and completeness.
- Can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform manual tasks such as walking, stooping, crouching, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling.
- Ability to work seated for extended periods.
- Detail oriented, organized, and effective in multi-tasking.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Windows Office suite and computer skills in general.
