Outreach / Marketing Coordinator Job Description:
The Behavioral Health Outreach Specialist is responsible for developing, strengthening, and maintaining professional referral relationships within the healthcare and behavioral health community. This position focuses on increasing organizational visibility, referral development, census growth, and community engagement through consistent outreach and professional relationship-building efforts.
The Outreach Specialist serves as a representative of the organization and is expected to establish and maintain productive working relationships with medical providers, nurse practitioners, physician offices, medical assistants, clinic coordinators, discharge planners, therapists, case managers, hospitals, schools, community agencies, and other healthcare professionals.
This role requires strong interpersonal communication skills, professionalism, strategic outreach efforts, and the ability to effectively promote behavioral health services while fostering trust and collaboration with referral partners.
Job Specifics:
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with referral sources, healthcare providers, medical clinics, hospitals, schools, community agencies, and local organizations.
- Conduct routine outreach visits to physician offices, behavioral health providers, clinics, hospitals, and community partners to educate professionals regarding organizational services and programs.
- Build long-term professional relationships with clinic managers, office coordinators, medical assistants (MAs), nurse practitioners (NPs), physicians (MDs/DOs), therapists, discharge planners, and referral staff.
- Serve as a liaison between the organization and community referral sources to improve communication, collaboration, and referral processes.
- Represent the organization at community events, health fairs, networking opportunities, provider meetings, and professional functions.
- Deliver presentations and educational materials regarding behavioral health services, programs, and community resources.
- Assist with marketing initiatives including brochures, flyers, social media content, outreach materials, newsletters, and promotional campaigns.
- Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships and organizational growth within the behavioral health and healthcare sectors.
- Maintain consistent follow-up communication with referral partners to strengthen ongoing professional relationships.
- Track outreach activities, referral trends, marketing efforts, and business development progress through reports and databases.
- Collaborate with leadership regarding outreach strategies, census development goals, and marketing initiatives.
- Maintain current knowledge of organizational services, behavioral health programs, insurance participation, and referral processes.
- Ensure all outreach and marketing activities are conducted in accordance with organizational policies, ethical standards, HIPAA regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and exceptional customer service at all times while representing the organization within the community.
Educational Requirements:
Required: High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or related field.
Experience
Required:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in outreach, healthcare marketing, provider relations, business development, behavioral health, or community engagement.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in behavioral health or healthcare outreach.
- Knowledge of behavioral health services, referral systems, and community resources.
- Experience developing referral networks and professional healthcare relationships.
- Experience conducting presentations, networking, and public engagement activities.
