We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and motivated Behavioral Health Program Assessor to join our Case Management Program.

This position plays a vital role in ensuring our patients receive timely assessments, individualized treatment planning, and uninterrupted behavioral health services. The Program Assessor works closely with patients, families, providers, case managers, and our billing department to ensure authorizations are obtained and services remain compliant with state and payer requirements.

Position Summary

The Behavioral Health Program Assessor is responsible for conducting comprehensive behavioral health assessments for children, adolescents, and adults receiving case management services. This includes completing Biopsychosocial Assessments, Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessments, Adult Needs and Strengths Assessments (ANSA), and developing individualized Treatment Plans based on identified strengths and needs.

This position ensures all required assessments and treatment plans are completed within required timeframes so authorizations can be obtained without interruption of patient services.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive Biopsychosocial Assessments for new and existing patients.
  • Complete Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessments.
  • Complete Adult Needs and Strengths Assessment (ANSA).
  • Develop individualized Treatment Plans based on assessment findings.
  • Complete reassessments according to program requirements:
    • Every 90 days for children and adolescents
    • Every 180 days for adults
    • More frequently when clinically indicated.
  • Meet face-to-face with patients and families to complete assessments.
  • Explain available behavioral health services and treatment recommendations to patients and families in a compassionate and understandable manner.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers, Providers, Billing Department, Intake Staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Coordinate assessments across all Atlantis Behavioral Health office locations.
  • Ensure documentation is completed accurately and submitted within agency, payer, and state timelines.
  • Enter all required documentation into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Texas CMBHS system.
  • Monitor assigned assessment deadlines to prevent lapses in service authorizations.
  • Work closely with the Billing Department to ensure authorizations are requested promptly following assessment completion.
  • Maintain compliance with all agency policies, Medicaid requirements, and state regulations.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Travel between office locations and, when necessary, conduct assessments within the community or patient's home.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Social Work
    • Psychology
    • Sociology
    • Human Services
  • Minimum two (2) years of verifiable full-time behavioral health case management experience.
  • Ability to obtain CANS and ANSA Certification.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Preferred

  • Experience working with Medicaid behavioral health programs.
  • Experience completing behavioral health assessments.
  • Experience developing individualized treatment plans.
  • Experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Experience using Texas CMBHS.
  • Knowledge of community behavioral health resources.
