Position Summary
Sterile Processing Technician I is responsible for basic decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical devices under close supervision. This position serves as the entry point for individuals with little to no prior experience, providing foundational knowledge and skills in sterile processing.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certification (CRCST or CBSPD) is required within 12 months of hire.
EXPERIENCE:
Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens along with infectious diseases. (Refers to Blood Bourne Pathogen requirement)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The Sterile Processing Technician I reports directly to the Sterile Processing Supervisor or Manager. This position works under direct supervision and receives day-to-day guidance and oversight from assigned Lead technicians or Preceptor.

EXPERIENCE:
- Completion of an accredited Central Sterile Processing course preferred but not
- Experience working in a healthcare, clinical, or regulated environment (preferred but not required)
- Experience in roles required:
- Strict adherence to procedures and policies
- Attention to detail and quality checks
- Manual, hands-on work performed for extended periods
- Use of PPE and compliance with safety protocols
- Perform decontamination of surgical instruments and medical
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, function, and
- Assemble and wrap instrument sets according to count
- Load/unload sterilizers and maintain accurate sterilization
- Follow departmental protocols, AAMI, and Joint Commission
- Maintain a clean and safe work
