Job Description
The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic programming and events that build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including public and private organizations, non-profits, and local communities. In this role, the position will support the work of AtlantiCare Healthy Engagement, Safe Beginnings, and the Midtown CDC. The successful candidate collaborates with a wide range of partners to create and implement programmatic activities that support each department’s community health improvement goals in accordance with the strategic and business plans of AtlantiCare.
Working within the framework of each department, the Community Engagement Specialist will respond to community requests and translate stated objectives related to community engagement into programmatic initiatives . The core activities of the position include relationship building, partnership and programming development and maintenance, event planning, and coalition building.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality community and customer service, promoting engagement through a myriad of venues, including ongoing and special events and by demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Potential for exposure to hazards and risks of the hospital environment including exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous substances and the potential for injury.
This position requires travel mostly in and around the AtlantiCare primary service areas as well as some travel within the regional service area of AtlantiCare. Other locations may be required as related to the job expectations. Position requires flexibility of work hours. This position requires walking, standing and lifting. May have prolonged periods of sitting, occasional work outdoors and frequently works with such equipment as computer copier/telephone.

This position reports to department leadership.

Qualifications
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Community Health or Social Science or five to ten years relevant work experience.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: A valid NJ driver’s license is required.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 years of professional program development experience in a non-profit. Grant management experience strongly preferred. High level of computer proficiency required including Microsoft Office, Internet and social media required. Writing experience preferred including blogs, newsletters, and email blasts.
