Role Description
The Cost Estimator and Support Specialist will support various project needs by performing cost analysis, preparing detailed cost estimates, and ensuring accurate budget management. Responsibilities include managing project budgets, analyzing costs, and preparing estimation reports to guide decision-making. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Strongsville, OH, requiring collaboration with internal teams to ensure quality and cost-effective project delivery.
Job Duties
• Prepare, log, track, and close customer quotes, including translating cost estimates into quote forms and sending to customers/Sales.
• Gather information and coordinate with internal teams, customers, vendors, and engineering to complete accurate estimates and support pricing updates.
• Analyze costs, review tooling layouts, evaluate customer documents, and complete required estimating forms to produce efficient, cost-effective proposals.
• Manage customer inquiries, provide support to Sales/Engineering, maintain organized electronic files, and assist with reports and special projects.
Education / Experience
• High school diploma required; background in manufacturing, metal stamping, tooling, or assembly is a plus.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel; CAD or tooling design experience beneficial.
• Good math aptitude with basic blueprint reading skills; administrative experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering, or related field is a plus (not required).
Training
• ATD internal systems (Gateway, UseIt) and customer portal training as needed.
• ATD estimating processes, customer quotation forms, and pricing workflows.
• Use of AutoCAD-type software for 2D strip layouts and basic CAD functions.
• Excel or software training necessary for quoting, cost analysis, and data management.
Skills / Competencies
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, forecast costs, and support cost-control decisions.
• Proficiency in cost management, project estimation, budgeting, and resource monitoring.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient in relevant software/tools for estimating and project management; able to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
