Truck Driver Job Description: Top Duties and Qualifications

A Truck Driver or Transporter is responsible for transporting goods from one location to another. Job duties include loading & unloading vehicles, abiding by traffic laws ensuring safe delivery of goods at destination.

Must have great attitude, willingness to learn and provide the highest quality customer service at all times.

Responsibilities:

• Obeying and following applicable traffic laws.
• Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle.
• Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance as needed.
• Work with Management to plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
• Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts.
• Input into our automated system for each stage of the loading and unloading process.
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) including company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• Our drivers will be operating box trucks (24FT), sprinter van, and moffett truck-mounted forklifts.
• Must be able to communicate in English, written and verbal.
• Motivated to work and good attitude, customer service skills needed.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (must be able to produce a clean driving abstract)
• Must be able to pass a Drug Test - CDL drivers only.
• CDL Driver License - DOT Medical / Physical Exam required.
• No Moving Violations in the past 3-years (required).
• Must have a valid DOT medical card (required).

Physical Requirements:

• Loading and unloading trucks to ensure delivery is satisfied and customer needs are fully met.
• Ability to move around the warehouse and safely climb ladders.
• Must be comfortable being on your feet for extended periods of time and lifting up to 50lbs.
