Full job description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Injection Molding Technician to support 1st shift production. This role is responsible for setting up molding machines, troubleshooting processes, running IPDs for new programs, and guiding operators to ensure consistent quality and efficient production. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of molding operations and experience working with automation and vision systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and start injection molding machines, including material changes, mold setups, and process adjustments.
- Troubleshoot molding issues, automation faults, and equipment variations to maintain stable, high-quality production.
- Perform IPDs (Initial Process Development) and validate new programs as required.
- Support and mentor operators and junior technicians with daily production needs.
- Complete mold changeovers and ensure accurate documentation of tooling, parameters, and machine events.
- Monitor cycle times, part quality, and process stability throughout the shift.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness, including presses, grinders, loaders, and auxiliary systems.
- Conduct routine quality checks and partner with QA to resolve non-conformances.
- Work with Engineering and Tooling teams to address tooling, material, or process concerns.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain an organized, clean work area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong hands-on experience with injection molding machine setup and processing.
- Ability to perform IPDs and validate new molds or process launches.
- Familiarity with robotics, pickers, and automated vision inspection systems.
- Proficiency using measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Clear communication skills and ability to support team members effectively.
- Flexibility to work extended hours when required.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5 years of injection molding experience; lead or senior technician experience preferred.
- Experience with robotics or automated inspection systems is a plus.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, oils, and moving equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.

Pay: $31.00 - $35.00 per hour
