Position Title: Patient Care Receptionist

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday
Location: York, ME
Compensation: $19/Hr (Based on experience)

Position Summary:
As a Patient Care Receptionist, you play a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional customer service and hospitality within our healthcare facility. Your primary responsibility is to manage the patient experience from start to finish, encompassing tasks such as check-in, check-out, scheduling, insurance verification, and communication. You will also be tasked with the collection and tracking of co-pays, as well as accurate data entry for billing purposes. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to provide compassionate care to patients will contribute to the smooth operation of our practice and the overall satisfaction of our patients.
Working Relations:
Positions reports to: Front Office Manager & Patient Care Supervisor
Internal Relationships: Office staff, Clinicians, and Physicians
External Relationships: Patients, Physicians, Physician’s Office Staff, Insurance Representatives
Position Requirements:
Licenses or Certificates: N/A.
Education and experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Intermediate computer and data entry skills
- Proficiency with EHR, Microsoft Office, PDF/Adobe
- Customer service experience
- Physically present and on site at AOSM required
- 1 years of medical office experience is required
Skills and Abilities:
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Friendly, personable and helpful attitude
- Excellent communicator with an attention to detail
- Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills
- Must be highly organized and able to prioritize and multitask
- Prior experience using Allscripts PM, Phoenix Ortho, and/or ModMed is a plus
- Must be highly motivated to achieve performance goals as set by management
- Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods. Must be able to reach with both hands and arms, bend, and lift 20 pounds
- Must be able to hear and speak on the phone, with or without accommodations, for extended periods
- Perform other duties if needed
Job Responsibilities:
- Greet patients with a warm smile
- Arrive patients in a timely & efficient manner, verifying demographics and insurance information
- Collect copays & balances, discuss billing questions
- Coordinate appointment scheduling
- Work with clinical staff to effectively assist patients throughout their visit
- Maintain strict adherence to patient confidentiality according to provider standards and government regulations
- Appropriately prepare and submit paperwork for patient billing
- Responds to patient and provider calls, gathering necessary information for accurate scheduling and providing essential details to the clinical team.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment while upholding excellent patient care standards.
- Listens to and addresses patient complaints related to appointment scheduling, aiming for resolution.
- Utilizes various computer programs to review information and address patient inquiries.
- Applies critical thinking skills to problem-solve and manage urgent matters effectively.
- Stays current with changes in schedule preferences and office processes.
- Required to be on-site and present according to the scheduled days.
