Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, marinating, and portioning ingredients to streamline kitchen operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work stations, adhering to food safety guidelines at all times
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate meal service efficiently during busy hours
- Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures, including storage, temperature control, and sanitation practices
- Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and dish presentation ideas
- Assist with catering orders and special event meal preparations to meet specific guest requirements
Skills
- Proven experience in a restaurant or food industry setting, demonstrating strong kitchen skills and culinary knowledge
- Excellent knife skills for precise cutting, dicing, and slicing of ingredients
- Familiarity with food safety standards and proper food handling techniques
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards
- Experience in dietary department or dietary aide roles is a plus, showcasing knowledge of special dietary needs and meal accommodations
- Strong understanding of menu planning, food preparation, and meal assembly processes
