Principal Accountabilities

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Promotes and restores patient's health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; delegates to appropriate team members.
  • Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements.
  • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
  • Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient, friends, and family to understand the condition, medications, and self-care skills; and answering questions.
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; and following philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
  • Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; and calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; medication administration and storage procedures; and controlled substance regulations as needed.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records accurately and timely.
  • Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies as required.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information and participating in team problem-solving methods.
  • Take patient calls and triage symptoms as well as patient needs and escalate appropriately.
  • Report normal and abnormal results to patients as requested by providers.
  • Work closely with pharmacies, labs, pathology, insurance, etc to provide timely patient care.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma/GED; graduate of an accredited School of Nursing


required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred

  • Experience: At least 2 years’ clinical practice, ambulatory practice preferred


Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations

  • Certificates: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) credential required
  • Licenses: RN license, valid in the State of N.J
  • Registrations: N/A
  • Knowledge and command of electronic medical records systems. EPIC Ambulatory preferred
  • Effective communication skills: Listens well, speaks, and writes clearly and concisely.
  • Competent in managing the day-to-day operations in a clinical practice.
  • Model behaviors in accordance with AMG/AHS mission, vision, and PRIDE values.
