Atlantic Health is searching for a detailed and dynamic candidate to join our team as a Materials Representative for their Materials Management Department, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring materials and supplies are received, stored, and delivered accurately and efficiently to support daily operations from Monday - Friday from 7a-3p, and one weekend per month.
The Materials Rep plays a vital role in supporting patient care by managing the receipt, inspection, storage, inventory and distribution of medical supplies, equipment, and general materials throughout the healthcare facility. This position helps ensure clinical and non‑clinical departments have the right supplies, in the right place, at the right time, while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards.
In this role, you will be responsible for the shipping, receiving, inspection, storage, inventory, and distribution of a wide variety of materials, equipment, and supplies. You’ll verify incoming shipments by counting and verifying items to ensure accuracy against shipping documents such as bills of lading, invoices, and purchase orders. You’ll also inspect deliveries for damage or shortages and work with shipping partners to resolve any issues quickly and professionally.
You’ll prepare materials for shipment by packaging, labelling, and completing required documentation and data entry. This position also involves operating material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and dollies to safely move inventory and reorganize storage areas.
As part of the role, you’ll help create, maintain, and reorganize PAR area locations to support inventory control and ensure materials are readily available. You’ll work under direct supervision, handling routine tasks independently while escalating more complex issues when needed. Principal Accountabilities
- Performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies.
- Counts, weighs or measures incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
- Examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify.
- Completes paperwork or forms required for documentation.
- Determines method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
- Prepares materials for shipping by weighing, packaging and stamping. Prepares necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading.
- Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
- Creates and reorganizes PAR area locations.
- Performs work under direct supervision and handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics or relevant area.
- 1 year of experience working in Material Handling or relevant area.
