Job Description
Responsible for operating X-ray equipment that produces radiographs designated areas of the body for diagnostic purposes. Atlantic Health System's radiology departments provide state-of-the-art imaging services that can accommodate a wide range of patient needs with the highest quality and safety. In fact, many of our locations meet image gently® recommendations, meaning we "child-size" radiation doses for pediatric patients. Our medical team features board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologists, who specialize in breast imaging, cross-sectional imaging, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine, muscular-skeletal imaging, pediatric imaging, and interventional radiology. Highly skilled technologists and registered radiology nurses provide additional expertise and support. Atlantic Health System has radiology services at Chilton, Hackettstown, Morristown, Newton and Overlook medical centers, along with Goryeb Children's Hospital and a variety of outpatient locations. Services vary by location.

Principal Accountabilities
- Positions patient on examining table and changes immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
- Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
- Moves x-ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance basis knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
- Practices radiation protection techniques using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
- Operates mobile x-ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
- Specializes in production of screening and diagnostic x-rays for detection of breast tumors.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's Degree in an accredited RT Program or related field.
- NJ DEP license.
- ARRT Radiography Certification.
- CPR Certified.
- Minimum of 200 mammography exams performed within past 24 months.
- ARRT Mammography certification (obtained within 1 year of hire).
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as a staff technologist in Mammography or relevant area.
