Fund Analyst - Venture Capital - Boston - Hybrid
Key Responsibilities:
Deal Execution:
- Manage day-to-day deal execution for assigned companies, including independent review of pro formas, investment documents, and wire processes.
- Review work prepared by other team members to ensure alignment on deal mechanics and transaction details.
- Lead discussions around deal structures, trends, and best practices.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of portfolio construction and appropriate investment allocation.
- Communicate cash needs related to investments to internal stakeholders and ensure team-wide coordination.
- Maintain data integrity across internal databases, including updating portfolio company information and key performance metrics.
Valuations:
- Provide recommendations on valuation adjustments—ranging from straightforward to highly complex—supported by detailed analysis and clear fact patterns.
- Interpret quantitative and qualitative performance data to inform valuation decisions.
- Build waterfall (equity allocation) and option pricing models using investment documentation, including for unique or novel financing structures.
- Execute and record valuation updates in internal systems to ensure accurate reporting each quarter-end.
- Prepare performance reports for portfolio companies that include analysis of financial and operating metrics, public comparable benchmarks, investment-level IRR, and historical performance data.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA or CFA preferred).
- 2–4 years of experience in public or private accounting, fund operations, or related fields; venture capital or private equity experience preferred.
- Deep expertise in valuations and financial modeling, along with familiarity of venture financing structures and terminology.
- Highly collaborative, with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities, prioritization, time management, and meticulous attention to detail; capable of managing multiple workstreams simultaneously with sound judgment.
- Intellectual curiosity and creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-changing, ambiguous environment.
- Passion for operational excellence and process improvement.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, and Google Suite.
- Experience with Salesforce, Aumni, Standard Metrics, and QuickBooks is a plus.
