The Atlantic Group has partnered with a rapidly growing organization in Long Island City, NY. They have an immediate need for an Accounting Manager to join their team. This position is a full-time contract role with the opportunity to become permanent based on performance.
Position Overview:
Seeking an Accounting Manager to support the accounting team. This individual will oversee a team of 4 junior accounting staff and play a key role in managing day-to-day general ledger operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities.
Work Schedule: 5 days in office
Job Duties:
-Oversee general ledger accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and company policies
-Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, payroll entries, and financial statement preparation
-Review and approve recurring and non-recurring journal entries, ensuring proper accounting treatment and accurate GL coding
-Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support compliance and operational efficiency
-Partner with Billing, A/R, A/P, Cash Management, Payroll, and external auditors to ensure accurate reporting and successful audit execution
-Support payroll accounting activities, including payroll accruals, reconciliations, and funding reviews
-Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, as well as ad hoc financial analysis and projects
--Lead, mentor, and manage the General Ledger team, providing training, performance feedback, and day-to-day oversight
Drive process improvements and enhance accounting systems and reporting capabilities across the department
Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
-5 years of accounting experience with strong general ledger and financial reporting knowledge
-Strong understanding of GAAP, reconciliations, month-end close, and audit support
-Leadership experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
-Netsuite experience required
-Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
-Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
