Planer/Molder Machinist
We are a multi-location distributor of building materials, lumber, and supplies dedicated to supporting contractors, builders, and customers with quality products and exceptional service. As our business continues to grow, we're seeking an experienced Planer/Molder Machinist with strong tooling knowledge to join our team. This role is ideal for a skilled, detail-oriented machinist who takes pride in precision craftsmanship, efficient production, and maintaining high-quality standards.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain planer/molder machine
- Design, set, and adjust tooling, knives, and cutters
- Read and interpret shop drawings, molding profiles, and technical specifications
- Perform regular quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency and adherence to tolerances
- Troubleshoot machine and tooling issues to minimize downtime
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Collaborate effectively with production, millwork, and shop teams
- Conduct quality control inspections on all workpieces
- Work safely in a factory environment with unconditioned workspace, often standing for long periods, using required PPE (safety gear, glasses, hearing protection), and working with hazardous equipment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a planer/molder machinist
- Strong tooling knowledge, including knife grinding, setup, and adjustments
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Reliable, punctual, safety-focused work ethic
- Experience: 1–3 years of relevant machining or millwork experience
- Soft skills: precision, teamwork, organization, communication, and ability to follow detailed instructions
Preferred (but not required):
- Experience with custom millwork or architectural molding
- Knife grinding or CNC molder experience
- Ability to work independently and manage setups efficiently
What We Are Looking For:
- Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to use hand/power tools and understand machine function.
- Precision: Extreme accuracy is critical for close tolerances.
- Math/Measurement: Competence with English/metric systems and basic math.
- Safety: Strict adherence to safety protocols.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage: $24.00-$28.50 depending on experience
