Projects supported by Atlantic Fluid Technology involve collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including contractors, consulting engineers, municipalities, private operators, and manufacturing partners, requiring a strong technical and consultative approach.
The Applications Engineer position serves as a technical liaison between the companies’ product offerings (e.g., pumps, valves, and treatment systems) and municipal clients such as consulting engineers, public works departments, water authorities, wastewater treatment facilities, and public and private owners of hydropower assets ensuring solutions are technically sound, compliant, and aligned with client needs.
Key Duties And Essential Functions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Standard office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is minimal.

Key Duties And Essential Functions
- Product Expertise: Maintain deep knowledge of the company’s product lines and stay updated on industry standards. In this sales-driven environment, the ability to understand how products are positioned, specified, and sold into municipal projects is highly advantageous.
- Process Expertise: Understand standard industry treatment processes and stay up-to-date on both existing and emerging technologies, with an appreciation for how technical solutions support customer needs and sales strategies.
- Project Expertise: A successful candidate has a deep understanding of the municipal project lifecycle and is able to produce appropriate work products efficiently for key stakeholders throughout that lifecycle, while supporting commercial objectives and sales efforts.
- Technical Support & Solution Design: Collaborate with outside sales engineers and manufacturing partners’ sales and engineering teams to translate technical requests at project milestones from customers, contractors, consulting engineers, and end users in support of successful project pursuit and execution.
- Proposal Review: Review technical proposals from manufacturing partners against RFQs and RFPs to ensure they meet the needs of the project milestone. Understand industry bid specifications and drawings, with an ability to evaluate technical alignment in a competitive, sales-focused environment.
- Proposal Development: Work closely with outside sales engineers to prepare technical proposals, equipment selections, and cost estimates for municipal bids and project milestones, contributing to winning, compliant, and competitive submissions.
- Project Coordination: Support project execution by coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and installation, while maintaining strong communication in support of customer satisfaction and long-term sales relationships.
- Site Visits & Field Support: Occasionally visit job sites to assist with system commissioning, troubleshooting, or client training, helping reinforce technical credibility and customer confidence in a sales-oriented setting.
- Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering (or related field).
- 3-5 Years of experience with fluid handling systems, pumps, water/wastewater treatment and municipal
- Strong communication skills; Ensures messages are understood, enabling collaboration, problem-solving, and positive outcomes
- Strong Organizational Skills: organization is key as the successful candidate will be able to manage many projects simultaneously.
- Advanced computer skills. Proficiency for following programs are required: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Adobe, AI tools and CAD.
