Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive patient care across pre-operative, circulating, and post-operative (PACU) phases of ophthalmic, oculoplastic, and corneal surgical procedures.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including pre-op assessments, verifying surgical site and documentation, and administering prescribed medications.
- Serve as a circulating nurse during surgical procedures, maintaining sterile fields, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring patient safety.
- Monitor and manage patient recovery post-surgery, providing post-operative instructions to patients and their escorts.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure strict adherence to HIPAA, infection control, and ASC regulatory standards.
- Collaborate seamlessly with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and clinical staff to ensure efficient, high-quality patient flow and room turnover.
Facility Description:
The award-winning Atlantic Surgery Center (ASC) is a busy single–operating room (OR) outpatient Ambulatory Surgical Center specializing in ophthalmic procedures, including cataract, corneal, and oculoplastic surgery. Due to continued growth, the center is expanding to a two-OR facility within the next year.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Active NJ Nursing License.
- BLS, ACLS.
- IV skillset.
- Ophthalmic surgical experience preferred.
