Job Summary
We are seeking experienced Equipment Operators to support dry utility construction projects. This role involves operating heavy machinery to install underground utilities such as conduit, electrical, telecom, and fiber systems while maintaining a strong focus on safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and trenchers
- Perform trenching, grading, and backfilling for dry utility installations
- Assist with the installation of conduit, manholes, and vaults
- Read and interpret site plans, utility markings, and grade stakes
- Conduct pre- and post-trip equipment inspections (DVIR)
- Maintain a clean and safe job site in compliance with OSHA standards
- Coordinate with crew members, foremen, and supervisors to meet project timelines
Requirements
- 2 years of experience operating equipment in utility or construction environments
- Experience in dry utilities (electrical, fiber, telecom) preferred
- Ability to work in trenches and around active construction sites
- Knowledge of safety regulations and underground utility practices
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience with trench safety and shoring systems
- Familiarity with utility locating and markings (811)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
