Job description
We are searching for a skilled heavy equipment operator. The heavy equipment operator's duties include preparing and manipulating heavy equipment to ensure the appropriate movement of materials, and liaising with coworkers to ensure that the projects are completed accurately. You will be required to conduct your duties in a safe, diligent manner at all times.
Equipment Operator Responsibilities:
- Ensuring all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations.
- Cleaning, lubricating, and performing regular safety checks on equipment.
- Ensuring equipment is properly positioned before turning it on and off, or loading and unloading it.
- Maneuvering motorized heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials.
- Loading and offloading rocks, debris, and other materials from heavy equipment.
- Performing other construction duties as needed.
- Promptly reporting all faults to the Supervisor or Foreman.
- Ensuring sites are kept clean and safe.
- Attending meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation.
- Observing stipulated safety codes.
Equipment Operator Requirements:
- High school diploma.
- Driver’s License & transportation.
- Prior experience operating a variety of heavy equipment. Equipment you will need to operate are: John Deere 331G Compact Track Loader, John Deere 50G Compact Excavator, John Deere 210GLC Excavator.
- Have the skill to fine grade, read grades, read plans.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow orders, especially under pressure.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines.
- A sound understanding of health and safety codes.
- A positive outlook and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent vision or the use of prescribed lenses.
- Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Capacity to provide and follow direction.
- Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.
- Ability to work extended hours, as required.
