Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced DME Operations Director to lead the launch and management of our Durable Medical Equipment (DME) company. This role is responsible for regulatory compliance, accreditation, payer enrollment, operations management, and strategic growth. The Operations Director will serve as the cornerstone of our DME business, ensuring smooth operations, compliance with federal and state requirements, and delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Accreditation
- Oversee compliance with CMS DMEPOS Supplier Standards, state licensing, and federal regulations.
- Lead accreditation process with ACHC, CHAP, or The Joint Commission.
- Develop policies, procedures, and compliance programs for survey readiness.
Billing & Revenue Cycle
- Manage payer enrollment, Medicare Supplier Number (PTAN), and insurance contracts.
- Oversee accurate billing, coding (HCPCS), and claims management.
- Implement and optimize DME billing systems (e.g., Brightree, Medforce, NikoHealth).
Operations & Logistics
- Establish and manage oxygen and equipment storage in compliance with NFPA 99/55 and OSHA.
- Oversee inventory management, delivery staff, and equipment maintenance processes.
- Implement tracking systems for equipment assignment, cleaning, and returns.
Leadership & Strategy- Hire, train, and supervise staff (billing, delivery, warehouse, and clinical support).- Develop operational metrics and reporting systems for performance improvement.- Drive growth initiatives, including new payer contracts and expanded service lines.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in DME operations or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of CMS, Medicare/Medicaid, and accreditation requirements.
- Demonstrated success in launching or managing a DME company preferred.
- Experience with DMEPOS billing, compliance, and payer relations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Preferred Skills
- Previous role as a DME Regional Manager, Accreditation Surveyor, or Operations Director.
- Knowledge of Florida DME regulations and payers.
- Experience with respiratory therapy operations (oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP).
- Ability to work in a startup/growth environment and scale operations effectively
