General Summary
The Streets Maintenance Worker performs unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor in the maintenance and repair of City streets, sidewalks, rights-of-way, parking lots, stormwater structures, and related public infrastructure. Work includes operation of light and occasionally heavy equipment. This position contributes directly to maintaining safe, clean, and serviceable public spaces throughout the community. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Streets and Stormwater Supervisor, with lead direction provided by the Streets Maintenance Lead. Performance is evaluated through observation, work quality, and results achieved.
Duties And Responsibilities
One (1) year of experience in outdoor labor, public works, streets or sidewalk maintenance, landscaping, construction, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Licenses and/or Certificates: Must possess a valid Driver License and maintain an acceptable driving record. FDOT Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification required within 12 months of hire. Stormwater Operator Level 1 certification required within 12 months of hire. FDEP Stormwater Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector certification preferred.

The physical conditions that apply to the Worker in this job are described as follows: Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, and manual labor. Ability to operate tools and equipment requiring physical strength and dexterity. Ability to work in extreme heat, humidity, rain, or other outdoor conditions.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, parking lots, and rights-of-way.
- Perform asphalt and concrete work, including cutting, prepping, mixing, pouring, and finishing materials.
- Operate hand tools and light-to-medium equipment such as mowers, tractors, jackhammers, trenchers, trailers, and other small-engine tools.
- Operate heavy equipment as assigned and trained, in support of maintenance projects.
- Clean and maintain stormwater drainage structures, culverts, gutters, catch basins, and swales.
- Conduct routine grounds and right-of-way maintenance including mowing, edging, blowing, trimming, and removal of vegetation.
- Empty trash containers and maintain public areas, including beach access points.
- Install, repair, and replace traffic, regulatory, and informational signage.
- Set up and remove traffic control devices and act as a flagger in accordance with FDOT Temporary Traffic Control standards.
- Assist with removal of storm debris and participate in emergency response operations, including hurricanes.
- Assist in preparation and breakdown for City events as needed.
- Respond to after-hours or emergency call-outs as assigned.
- Maintain basic records, daily work logs, and documentation of materials and equipment used.
- Assist Stormwater Maintenance crews and other City departments when assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
