Job Description:
The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency that focuses on issues critical to the region’s success, including growth and development, transportation, water resources, services for older adults and workforce solutions. ARC is dedicated to unifying the region’s collective resources to prepare the metropolitan area for a prosperous future. This is done through professional planning initiatives, the provision of objective information and the involvement of the community in collaborative partnerships.
The WorkSource Atlanta Regional deploys the Mobile Career Lab at convenient local locations in Cherokee, Clayton, Douglas, Fayette, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties. Onsite staff assist individuals seeking employment, training and education services and also provide services to businesses seeking a skilled workforce. Businesses may use the mobile lab for recruiting, pre-employment screening, interviewing and training. The Mobile Driver position is responsible for operating the mobile unit for the WorkSource Atlanta Regional Program. Please note that this part-time temporary position is not eligible for benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pick up the mobile unit and remain with the unit throughout the day;
- Maintain appropriate fuel levels for daily operation;
- Engage the system necessary for operation of the units as a free standing mobile unit (leveling, exhaust, awning, generator, wheelchair lift, etc.);
- Shut down above mentioned systems in preparation for return to secured location;
- Document and maintain reports of repairs and service needs;
- Complete driving checklist and take mobile unit for necessary repairs and regular maintenance service;
- Complete routine review of the mobile unit’s mechanical/physical systems and report concerns;
- Assist Job Coach/Career Advisor with visitors as needed or requested;
- Provide general support to career resource staff and clients;
- Perform other duties as assigned to support agency goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year of driving experience
- Active State of Georgia, Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Previous experience in driving multi-passenger vehicles
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- Knowledge of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA);
- Skill in oral and written communication;
- Skill in communicating with and assisting clients;
- Skill in maintaining accurate records;
- Ability to operate a RV, bus and truck;
- Ability to work some weekends;
- Proficient in computer and mechanical skills;
- Strong customer service skills.
