Position Overview
The Director of Social Work and Community Services provides leadership for our organization’s counseling, care and community-services programs. This role blends clinical/social work expertise with program leadership: offering hands-on support, supervision of staff/volunteers, strategic development of services, and partnership building. The Director ensures high-quality, trauma-informed service delivery that aligns with our mission to partner with inner-city families to raise strong, Christian adults.
Key Responsibilities
Counseling & Care Services:
- Provide crisis intervention, case management, counseling or oversight of these services for kids, teenagers, and their families.
- Develop individualized care/service plans, ensure follow-through, monitor outcomes.
- Oversee referral processes and partnerships with external providers (mental health, social services, healthcare).
- Ensure compliance with relevant ethical, legal, and professional standards.
Program Leadership & Management:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance service delivery, grow programs, and achieve organizational goals.
- Manage budgets, resources, and program efficiency; monitor performance and initiate continuous improvement.
- Ensure programs meet required standards, internal policies, funding/grant requirements.
- Lead or co-lead key ministry programs such as after-school, mentoring, and other similar programs.
Community Engagement & Outreach:
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners (schools, churches, agencies, nonprofits) to enhance referral networks and community impact.
- Represent the organization in community meetings, coalitions, and public forums.
- Design and facilitate workshops, support groups, training sessions in areas such as parenting, trauma recovery, life skills, resilience.
Organizational Leadership & Capacity Building:
- Collaborate with the leadership team in strategic planning, policy development, and organizational culture-building.
- Provide training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to staff and volunteers.
- Promote a culture of compassion, respect, diversity, equity and inclusion, and high-quality service aligned with our values.
Other Responsibilities
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Counseling (LPC/LMFT), Psychology, or a related field.
- Licensed clinical professional (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT) preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, advocacy and partnership-building skills; ability to engage diverse populations with empathy and cultural competence.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care, community resource networks, evidence-based practice and outcome measurement.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the organization; ability to work collaboratively and lead with integrity and compassion.
- Ability to sign our organization's statement of faith.
