Archivist locations Atlanta Home Office time type Full time posted on Posted 14 Days Ago job requisition id R-002207 Position: Archivist Reports To: Chief of Staff Salary: $51,000 to $63,800 Direct Reports: 0 Position Summary: The Archivist is responsible for collecting, arranging, describing, making accessible, preserving permanent records and preserving records of significant historical value to Atlanta Housing. Responsible for researching AH’s archival collections; managing the communication, promotion, and accessibility of AH archival materials through description, reference, and outreach efforts to the public, and researchers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develops, implements, and maintains written policies and operating procedures for management of archival collections, including enforcing policies & procedures when providing archival reference and research services. Develops, selects, prepares and refines, as needed, selection criteria for archival collections according to established workflows, including preparation of migration & digitization of records to preservation formats, managing collection inventories, databases, finding aids, and reference guides. Collaborates with departments to accession records created in the regular course of business that demonstrate and document AH's history; its growth and change; defines its structure; and displays its accomplishments, missions, and goals. Oversees the cataloging and safekeeping of valuable materials through preservation initiatives and disaster planning and makes recommendations related to disposition of certain materials, including documenting deaccessions according to the collection policy. Management of the Archives room, including assessing condition needs; performs regular environmental monitoring; manages preservation and conservation of materials in critical need; and arrange, provide descriptions, organize, process and catalog collections according to best practices. Conducts collections research, documenting collections provenance and records institutional knowledge of collections. Conduct in-person appointments for the public and researchers to review archival material. Engages in outreach efforts including exhibits, training, and presentations. Generates supporting materials for communications and public relations activities. Search for and provide appropriate documents for presentations, publications, and open records requests, as needed. Other duties as assigned Knowledge and Skill Requirements: Must possess strong research and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and in teams. Must possess a practical knowledge of contemporary archival and records management principles and practices. Must show active involvement in professional organizations. Must be extremely detail oriented and enjoy working in an environment which requires focus and concentration. Must be able to prioritize tasks and allocate resources efficiently. High level of professionalism and integrity with the capacity to maintain confidentiality Strong knowledge of archival metadata schemas and cataloging practices Education and Experience: Master's degree in library science, history, or related discipline with a concentration in archival studies (preferred) or archival courses, seminars, internships, or relevant practical experience. A minimum of five years of experience working in archives. Experience describing records according to the Society of American Archivists (SAA) approved standards outlined in Describing Archives a Content Standard (DACS). Demonstrated ability to manage a great deal of detail and exemplary organizational skills are required. Experience managing, updating and adding digital materials to the AH internal catalog. Archival Institute Certificate or Certified Archivist (CA) preferred. Preferred experience managing volunteers or employees. Working Conditions: · General office working environment. May be required to stand or sit for long periods of time, may be required to lift up to 25 lbs.

Salary : $51,000 - $63,800
