ESSENTIAL TASKS:
- Perform a variety of precision surface grinding operations using hand grinders
- Use portable grinders to remove surface defects such as laps, seams, pits and cracks as identified by in-process inspection. Use dyes penetrant to detect cracks.
- Check materials for dimensional accuracy.
- Visually inspect materials for surface defects and mark off for cut-off operations.
- Exercise identity by heat number, order number, or other identifying coding.
- Detect and report damaged material, improper operations. Refer questionable matters to proper supervision.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Follow prescribed safety regulations.
NON-ESSENTIAL TASKS:
- Perform other duties as required or directed.
- At times, load and unload machine.
Qualifications:
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- General high school diploma or GED.
- Abide by the ethical standards and requirements established by the ethics code.
- Employees must be familiar with the Allvac quality policy, and this policy must be used as the guide in performing every aspect of the job.
- Use ordinary arithmetic, decimals and fractions.
- Work from shop orders, instructions, make simple use of specifications.
- Use micrometers, gauges, and scale.
- Over 6 and up to 9 months experience.
