ATI is hiring a Process Engineer for our Huntsville, Alabama facility. Our Huntsville Operations specializes in supporting the medical market by producing specialty superconducting and shape memory alloys that enable life-changing insights through MRI systems and life-saving medical implants like heart stents. ATI Huntsville Operations also produces a wide range of military-grade titanium, specialty steels, and other materials and components for defense contractors and other customers. This is an onsite, day shift position typically working Monday - Friday 7:30 AM to 4 PM.
This position will report to the Technology Manager. Process Engineers provide technical and manufacturing process support for identifying and eliminating sources of variation and for establishing standards, best practices, and performance metrics on the shop floor. You will be a master problem solver and lead processes that will ensure that we are achieving conformance and producing quality product that meets our customer requirements and ATI goals and objectives.
In order to become successful and provide immediate impact, you will have to quickly learn ATI’s processes, and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including technology, engineering, quality, and safety. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, a continuous improvement mindset, the ability to act quickly and make impactful decisions, and exceptional interpersonal skills are included in the skillset of a successful Process Engineer.
Additional Responsibilities
- Meet with production and product managers to assess existing processes.
- Draft process ideas to reduce costs and improve productivity.
- Perform risk assessments.
- Design and testing process improvements and new process systems.
- Develop standard operating instructions for process improvements and new process systems.
- Ensure processes comply with safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot problems associated with manufacturing processes.
- Conduct tests and monitoring production process performance.
- Develop best practices to ensure product quality.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering. (Metallurgical or Materials Science is preferred.)
Preferences
- At least 1 year of engineering work / internship experience.
- Advanced technical skills - familiarity with process controls, data analysis and root cause analysis.
- Experience with process simulations and standard operating procedures.
- Experience with CAD and AutoCAD.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to multitask and problem solve.
- Must be detail orientated, highly organized, and exhibit a strong sense of accountability.
- Ability to work individually as well in a team setting.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, oral, listening & approachability).
- Ability to manage projects
