We are currently seeking a Test Technician for the Mechanical Test Lab located at our Natrona Heights Operations in Natrona Heights, PA (suburb of Pittsburgh). This position performs various types of testing including physical/mechanical, corrosion, and metallographic testing, the preparation of the test samples, basic preventative maintenance of testing and preparation equipment, and the reporting of the test results. It is a union position that works shifts, requires some weekend work, and has overtime opportunities.
Essential Functions:
- Participation in world class safety program.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately while following established procedures
- Use and operate test equipment (tensile machines, hardness machines, etc.) and sample preparation equipment (shears, milling machines, belt sanders, etc.)
- Ability to learn trends/see patterns in test results and react properly to items that seem out of the normal range of results.
- Monitor systems and report/react to reported warnings/failures.
- Interact with internal staff and testing personnel, as required, in the performance of job responsibilities.

Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience in manufacturing, quality assurance, or materials testing
Preferred Requirements:
- Associates degree in a science discipline
- Experience in routine testing (physical/mechanical, corrosion, and/or metallography)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic math skills
- Ability to work independently
