This role partners closely with senior leadership across key front office functions—including ticketing, partnerships, marketing, and operations—to drive financial planning, performance analysis, and strategic decision-making.

Description:
The Director, Finance is a strategic finance leader responsible for supporting the Athletics business operations. This role partners closely with senior leadership across key front office functions—including ticketing, partnerships, marketing, and operations—to drive financial planning, performance analysis, and strategic decision-making.
The ideal candidate brings strong financial expertise, business acumen, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning across the organization.
- Partner with department leaders across ticket sales, sponsorship, marketing, venue operations, and other functions to manage budgets, monitor performance, and identify growth opportunities.
- Develop financial models and analyses to evaluate revenue initiatives, pricing strategies, capital investments, and new business opportunities.
- Provide dynamic financial forecasting capabilities and recommendations to optimize revenue generation, cost efficiency, and overall business performance.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages and financial statements for executive leadership, ownership, tax, and Major League Baseball requirements in accordance with GAAP.
- Support strategic initiatives, including the new Ballpark project, major events, and partnerships.
- Review and approve journal entries, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Establish, enhance, and maintain effective internal controls, financial processes, reporting tools, and KPI tracking to support accurate reporting and informed decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial governance standards, and applicable Major League Baseball requirements.
- Identify and lead opportunities to improve transactional efficiency, planning, reporting, and the effective use of accounting and financial systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, Legal, People Operations, Business Strategy, and other teams to ensure alignment on financial goals and organizational priorities.
- Lead, develop, and supervise members of the Finance team, including setting goals and conducting performance evaluations.
- Lead a high-performing team focused on analytics and strong business partnership.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- 6–8 years of experience in finance, FP&A, management consulting, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
- Familiarity with FP&A tools, systems, and financial reporting platforms.
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
- Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience in sports, entertainment, or a revenue-driven business preferred
- Experience with CRM, ticketing systems, or data analytics tools preferred
- Exposure to venue operations or large-scale event planning preferred
- CPA certification is a plus
